Realising a Vision
Sonas is Gaelic for happiness. And, as always, maintaining our client's happiness was our priority throughout this project. As Primary Contractor, our responsibility was to bring their vision to life, on time, in budget and to the high standards that people have come to expect from us.
Achieving this on Sonas required diligent project management; bringing together the skills and resources of Architects, suppliers, and a top build team, in order to deliver our client's dream home.
Space, Light & Warmth
Sonas' south facing walls were built extensively from glass, making full use of the natural light, and leaving no room for imperfections. Every inch of the house was given the utmost attention to detail. Including the expansive ceiling of the open-plan South West wing, which covers 100sqm uninterrupted, and incorporates a living room, kitchen-diner, and sun room.
Creative Solutions
QBuild successes are largely built on our personal, collaborative approach to client relationships. And Sonas was no exception. We worked closely with the owners to source and develop creative solutions for their home, in parallel with the ongoing build.
One such solution was the intelligent lighting system, which we integrated into the main living areas, allowing the owners to change the 'mood' of the lighting at the touch of a button.
Heating
Drawing on our expertise in low-energy home construction, we built Sonas to have an 'A' energy rating and rely on a relatively small and cost-effective boiler for the size of property.
Our strategy for this was multifaceted: high-air tightness techniques (rated to 1.5) combined with a Mechanical Heat Recovery System; insulated structural panels, and energy efficient underfloor heating installed throughout the ground level.
